1. WHAT INFORMATION DO WE COLLECT?

Personal information you disclose to us

In Short:  We collect information that you provide to us.

We collect personal information that you voluntarily provide to us when you register on Solve Hunger App or otherwise when you contact us.

The personal information we collect includes the following: Name, email address and current address. 

All personal information that you provide to us must be true, complete and accurate, and you can modify your personal information through the app at anytime. 

 

Information automatically collected

In Short:  Some information — such as your device characteristics — is collected automatically when you open up Solve hunger app or when you register.

 

We automatically collect certain information,with your permission, like current location, when you register or use Solve hunger app. This information does not reveal your specific identity (like your name or contact information) but may include device characteristics, address, location, information about who and when you use our and other technical information. This information is primarily needed to maintain certain functionality of this app and also for our internal analytics and reporting purposes.

 

Like many businesses, we also collect information through cookies and similar technologies.

 

2. WILL YOUR INFORMATION BE SHARED WITH ANYONE?

In Short:  We only share information with your consent, to comply with laws, to provide you with services, to protect your rights, or to fulfill business obligations.

We may process or share your data that we hold based on the following legal basis:

  • Consent: We may process your data if you have given us specific consent to use your personal information in a specific purpose.
     

  • Legitimate Interests: We may process your data when it is reasonably necessary to achieve our legitimate business interests.
     

  • Performance of a Contract: Where we have entered into a contract with you, we may process your personal information to fulfill the terms of our contract.
     

  • Legal Obligations: We may disclose your information where we are legally required to do so in order to comply with applicable law, governmental requests, a judicial proceeding, court order, or legal process, such as in response to a court order or a subpoena (including in response to public authorities to meet national security or law enforcement requirements).
     

  • Vital Interests: We may disclose your information where we believe it is necessary to investigate, prevent, or take action regarding potential violations of our policies, suspected fraud, situations involving potential threats to the safety of any person and illegal activities, or as evidence in litigation in which we are involved.

More specifically, we may need to process your data or share your personal information in the following situations:

  • Business Transfers. We may share or transfer your information in connection with, or during negotiations of, any merger, sale of company assets, financing, or acquisition of all or a portion of our business to another company.

  • Affiliates. We may share your information with our affiliates, in which case we will require those affiliates to honor this privacy notice. We will share your name and email address so that they can contact you. Affiliates include food banks, pantries, soups and kitchen and other similar entities who register with us. 

  • Other Users. When you share personal information while organizing events, such information may be viewed by all users of our Solve Hunger app and may be made available by willingly publishing this information on your social networks, your contacts on the socily made available outside in perpetuity. If you interact with other users of our app network they will see your name, profile photo, and descriptions of your activity. Similarly, other users will be able to view descriptions of your activity, communicate with you within our app, and view your profile.

 

3. DO WE USE COOKIES AND OTHER TRACKING TECHNOLOGIES?

In Short:  We may use cookies and other tracking technologies to collect and store your information.

We may use cookies and similar tracking technologies (like web beacons and pixels) to access or store information. Specific information about how we use such technologies and how you can refuse certain cookies is set out in our Cookie Notice.

 

4. HOW DO WE HANDLE YOUR SOCIAL LOGINS?

In Short:  We do not use your social logins. While organizing events if you provide your social network link, it will be shared with other users of the app.

We only share information that you have allowed us to share. 

 

5. IS YOUR INFORMATION TRANSFERRED INTERNATIONALLY?

In Short:  We do not transfer or process your information in countries other than your own.

Our servers are located in the United States. We will however take all necessary measures to protect your personal information in accordance with this privacy notice and applicable law.

 

6. HOW LONG DO WE KEEP YOUR INFORMATION?

In Short:  We keep your information for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes outlined in this privacy notice unless otherwise required by law.

We will only keep your personal information for as long as it is necessary for the purposes set out in this privacy notice, unless a longer retention period is required or permitted by law (such as tax, accounting or other legal requirements). No purpose in this notice will require us keeping your personal information for longer than 12 months after the account has been deactivated.

When we have no ongoing legitimate business need to process your personal information, we will either delete or anonymize such information, or, if this is not possible (for example, because your personal information has been stored in backup archives), then we will securely store your personal information and isolate it from any further processing until deletion is possible.

 

7. DO WE COLLECT INFORMATION FROM MINORS?

In Short:  Solve Hunger app is intended for everyone but we would like all minors to consent with parent(s) or guardian(s) over 18 years age.

All users who are minors in the jurisdiction in which they reside (generally under the age of 18) must have the permission of, and be directly supervised by, their parent or guardian (over 18 years age) to use the Solve Hunger app. If you are a minor, you must have your parent or guardian read and agree to these Terms of Use prior to you using the Solve Hunger App.

If you think you have provided us information without consent of a parent or guardian, please reach out to us at solvehunger@solvehungercorp.org and we will deactivate the account and take reasonable measures to promptly delete such data from our records. 

8. WHAT ARE YOUR PRIVACY RIGHTS?

In Short:  You may review, change, or terminate your account at any time.

Account Information

If you would at any time like to review or change the information in your account or terminate your account, you can:

Upon your request to terminate your account, we will deactivate your account and information from our active databases. However, we may retain some information in our files to prevent fraud, troubleshoot problems, assist with any investigations, enforce our Terms of Use and/or comply with applicable legal requirements.

 

9. CONTROLS FOR DO-NOT-TRACK FEATURES

Most web browsers and some mobile operating systems and mobile applications include a Do-Not-Track (“DNT”) feature or setting you can activate to signal your privacy preference not to have data about your online browsing activities monitored and collected. At this stage, no uniform technology standard for recognizing and implementing DNT signals has been finalized. As such, we do not currently respond to DNT browser signals or any other mechanism that automatically communicates your choice not to be tracked online. If a standard for online tracking is adopted that we must follow in the future, we will inform you about that practice in a revised version of this privacy notice.

 

10. DO CALIFORNIA RESIDENTS HAVE SPECIFIC PRIVACY RIGHTS?

In Short:  Yes, if you are a resident of California, you are granted specific rights regarding access to your personal information.

California Civil Code Section 1798.83, also known as the “Shine The Light” law, permits our users who are California residents to request and obtain from us, once a year and free of charge, information about categories of personal information (if any) we disclosed to third parties for direct marketing purposes and the names and addresses of all third parties with which we shared personal information in the immediately preceding calendar year. If you are a California resident and would like to make such a request, please submit your request in writing to us at solvehunger@solverhungercorp.org

If you are under 18 years of age, reside in California, and have a registered account with , you have the right to request removal of unwanted data that you publicly post on the Solve Hunger app. To request removal of such data, please contact us at solvehunger@solvehungercorp.org, and include the email address associated with your account and a statement that you reside in California. We will make sure data is removed or masked or scrambled, but please be aware that the data may not be completely or comprehensively removed from all our systems (e.g. backups, etc.).  

 

11. DO WE MAKE UPDATES TO THIS NOTICE?

In Short:  Yes, we will update this notice as necessary to stay compliant with relevant laws.

We may update this privacy notice from time to time. The updated version will be indicated by an updated “Revised” date and the updated version will be effective as soon as it is accessible. If we make material changes to this privacy notice, we may notify you either by prominently posting a notice of such changes or by directly sending you a notification. We encourage you to review this privacy notice frequently to be informed of how we are protecting your information.
